Stop fearing and start building

What needs to happen in this country is in-fact very simple in concept but almost impossible based on the level of maturity which currently exists.

You can take the total wealth of this country black and white and divide it equally amongst all people to create equality. You will have equality but we will all be poor.
You can take our yearly GDP (Bear in mind that is not wealth but top line) and divide it amongst 55 million people and each person won’t even have a R100 000. Even using this ridicules analogy, demand vs supply will see inflation sky rocket reducing the value of such a share of wealth to nothing. No matter if you take the total cash in banks or total value of JSE and include it, the same principle will apply.
There is just not enough to go around and inflationary consequences remain. Sharing the existing wealth there for is not the answer to our problems and is simply reduced to ideology and propaganda
 So what do we do
Firstly we must get rid of the notion blaming apartheid, colonialism and imperialism. We must get rid of trying to correct the past by redistributing land and wealth. We must get rid of the notion that BBBEE, BEE, affirmative action and quotas will uplift, shift or create opportunities for previously disadvantaged people.
We must get rid of them vs us ie Black vs. White, Rich vs. Poor, Men vs. Woman, Settlers vs. Indigenous, Religion vs. Traditional belief, Educated vs. Uneducated, History vs. Myth/Propaganda, Inferiority vs Superiority, Public sector (Government) vs. Private sector (Business) and the Beneficiaries vs the Disadvantaged.
We can continue along this path but it creates the following: inferiority, superiority, corruption, self-importance, anger, lack of trust, feeds racism, exclusion, entitlement, nepotism, disparity, and poverty. In short it divides this nation. We can continue with this notion if we want the above to continue for generations to come. Or we can be mature about it and create a unified South Africa by removing what divides this country.
Yes a black man might state this is again a white man trying to protecting his future, relevance and existence and he would be 100% correct.
Its only human nature when forced to protect ones future, relevance and existence that it becomes individualistic in approach as isolation and exclusion is forced. If however all this divisive legislation is removed individual survival becomes irrelevant and the opportunity exist to work towards national interests. None of us thrives on seeing others suffer. It immature in thought
You simply will not win if unity is not achieved. A rugby team within the same side cannot function if the forwards compete against the backs for the ball. A football team cannot function if within the same team a defender blocks its own striker or the striker keeps on shooting for his own goal posts trying to score.
He might end up scoring the goals but sadly his team will lose. How do we as a nation think the same rules are not applicable to us? Imagine watching the above scenario what chaos will follow. Perhaps it explains the chaos we currently see within our country
Government has enforced this divisive legislation onto this nation to try and level the playing field. In theory it makes sense. But in practice you have all sides pulling on the various ends of a broken rope. It is exhausting and we end up facing each other to gain position wasting time instead of us joining on the same side to progress.
A level playing field has not been created and instead we have created barriers and obstruction. Disparity is larger than ever, racial divide is wider than ever. Our economy is bleeding and our people are suffering.
To our government.
At some point you must accept that this nation cannot function if you do not put unity first. You can apply any means you wish, be it Expropriation, Redistribution or Nationalization. You can apply BEE, Quotas and Affirmative action and step it up by 10 fold.
It will not resolve our problems and in-fact will further create issues and widen the gap in divide. Stop fearing and start building unity. Nelson Mandela had many years in jail to be angry, contemplate revenge and planning his approach to the future of this nation.
He spent many years in thought with countless scenarios unfolding in his mind. After living out all those scenarios in his mind, clarity was found. Why do you think he preached unity? Why do you think he catch phrased the term the “The Rainbow Nation”.
Why was nation building fundamental to his approach? He knew that achieving unity would create, Social Cohesion, Economic Growth, Equality, National Identity/pride and reduction in poverty. Yes he formed part of what I today see as a divisive constitution. But that was never key or core to his approach.
His critics today shout that he was to lenient and to soft. He was not. He was in-fact wise and a visionary which today lacks and is missed.
Give this nation a chance of succeeding. Give us a change to embrace, rather than fight. Some might say simply removing these divisive laws cannot fix all our problems and will not create unity. I say it can and it will.
